In the first part of this class, we will work as gardeners, learning to practice the 5 R's of sustainability: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rot (compost). We will tend our plants, harvest our bounty from the garden, savor our vegetables and herbs in salads and other preparations, as well as catalogue our recipes. We also will make a trip to the Brookline Farmers Market to learn about a variety of fruits and vegetables native to Massachusetts from the very farmers that grow them. We will then prep our garden for Winter, and once the weather turns colder, we will make lotions, potions and other products from natural materials found in our gardens and the surrounding environment.


NOTE: Cost is for an 11-week class and includes very substantial materials, gardening supplies, soil, gardening tools, and other supplies.
