In this class, we will be utilizing the LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential Kit and going over a few of the prepared activities to introduce young students to Lego Robotics. Students will have a blast engaging in “hands-on investigation” of STEAM concepts. In addition to learning design engineering concepts, students will develop their literacy, math, and reasoning skills as they “turn concepts into reality." The lessons chosen will be geared toward a 1st and 2nd grade audience.

Teddy Murphy brings six years of experience teaching STEM subjects in both classroom and camp settings. He emphasizes a project-centered learning approach that allows students to cultivate their skills while exploring their unique interests. Teddy's teaching portfolio includes instructing coding through Scratch, a user-friendly drag-and-drop coding language that lays a strong foundation in programming logic. Additionally, he has expertise in Lego Robotics, 3D Printing and Modeling, and is eager to introduce students to professional coding languages such as Python and Javascript.

Beyond technology, Teddy has also taught Life Sciences and is deeply committed to inspiring students to connect with the world around them. He encourages them to explore objective truth and meaning in the natural world. Teddy is enthusiastic about returning to DASEP and continuing his educational journey with students.
